There is that day every year.  That day where, after a long, rainy winter, McMinnville appears to bloom overnight in shades of red, pink and purple.  It beckons spring, warmer weather and sunny skies.

In 1950, the City of McMinnville adopted the Azalea as the official city flower per the recommendation of the McMinnville Garden Club.   Ordinance No. 2042 was officially approved by the McMinnville City Council on July 5, 1950.  And today it is still part of our McMinnville City Code - Who Knew?

So here is our challenge.  As we prepare for our 150th birthday as a city in 2032, let's plant 150 Azaleas around town.
